The Drury Panthers were honored as they were paraded down Drury Lane Tuesday afternoon. “The sun even came out for this grand celebration, and grand it was,” stated Drury president Todd Parnell.
The swimmers rode in old vehicles followed by Central High School Kilties, the Springfield Fire Department, and the color guard through several Springfield streets throwing candy to the crowd. The parade finished at the end of Drury Lane near the Findlay student Center. Once arriving in the circle the squad was escorting out of the vehicles and took their seats to sign autographs.
The Drury squad was the first one in NCAA-II history to sweep the men’s and women’s national championships for the third year in a row last month when they took both titles in San Antonio.
